DToid:The game is hard to recommend to someone who picked up last year's outing, except perhaps to the big golf enthusiasts among you who would appreciate the Legends of the Masters mode more than anyone else. If you're like me, though, and haven't picked up a Tiger Woods game in a while, PGA 14 has the classic gameplay that made the series stand out from its competitors, even if it is starting to show its age graphically.

TCO writes: "Tiger Woods PGA Tour 14 marks the start of the yearly EA Sports releases and the start of you deciding whether or not theyre worth spending another $60 on. I enjoy golfing in real life, Ill watch it on TV here and there and Ive been playing the Tiger Woods games since they started back in 1999, but unlike EA NHL, I dont need to buy it each and every year. Tiger Woods 13 included some big changes, like Total Swing Control and Kinect support, so it would be easy to think that Tiger 14 would just be a slightly updated version of that and wait for the next-gen Tiger to come out next year. I think casual fans may want to do that, but long time fans of the game are going to want to check out what EA Sports have come up with this year."

Its often a field day for the cynics, who are happy to pick fault over the new features or else lament the lack of them but, for a change, the cynics have little to complain about with this incarnation of Tiger Woods PGA Tour. A bevy (yes, bevy) of new features and improvements on established tropes make this entry the biggest package in the series recent history but is there more to it than a few new faces and courses to make it worth your money? EA saw an opportunity to save people from the unreasonable fees of golf by making its first golf simulator in 1998, and since then it has seen a multitude of improvements, some of which have made the series more popular, while others disappear in short order.
